Why PDFs get too large
Embedded images, scanned pages and export settings balloon file size. Compression re-encodes heavy assets so the document still opens cleanly while fitting Gmail or form upload caps.
Pick a compression level that fits the job
Stronger compression yields smaller files with more visible trade-offs on photos. Use lighter settings for print-quality proposals and stronger settings for quick email review copies.
- Email attachment limits
- Website resource downloads
- Cloud storage savings
- Faster client sharing
When size may not drop much
Already-optimised PDFs or text-heavy vector files may shrink only slightly. If results plateau, compress source images first with our Image Compressor, then rebuild the PDF. Compression runs locally for privacy.
